I went to my first chemo treatment on Friday, April 30th. All in all it wasn't bad. The nursing staff at Sparks were amazing, kind, and caring. We spent about 2 hours there. The first hour was going over paperwork and explaining how things will work. The second hour began the treatment. I was given an IV where they began the first of three medications that were to help with nausea. After these were completed they then administered the two chemo drugs, one after the other. This all made me very loopy headed, but I felt okay. I definitely could not have driven and was so glad that Pete was with me. I go back on Monday to get a booster shot that will help me keep my blood count up. Then I go back on Friday to do it all over again!

My first day of chemo
I spoke with the lady sitting beside me, bless her heart. She has had leukemia since 2005, it went into remission, but has now come back. She has been coming to chemo every weekday for 8 weeks. To look at her she actually looked well, but when talking to her I could tell she was very very worn out. She is there for treatments for a little over 3 hours. Her days are totally centered around her treatment. Amazing how God puts someone in front of us to remind us there is always someone going through something worse than ourselves.
I will try to load a few pictures, but no promises!
