CANCER AIN'T FOR SISSIES!!!

Whew, what a week?  I had chemo on Friday the 11th and then a booster shot on Monday the 14th.  Let's just say it drop kicked me in the dirt, rolled me around, then drop kicked me again.  Today is the first day that I have felt somewhat human and I am still struggling.  The only glimmer of hope is this Friday will hopefully be my last chemo.  I'm actually looking forward to surgery.  Pain I can handle, this other stuff gets a little tougher each time.

On the bright side our beautiful daughter Danielle and her husband Trevor came in from Maryland yesterday.  It has been really nice to have them here, even though I'm not much fun right now.  Dani has been cleaning and doing all kinds of things around here.  Crazy girl, I keep telling her to just take it easy but she won't do it.  Next week my parents are coming in from Texas for a visit.  They are excited to get to meet Trevor.
Finally I must say I have the most wonderful family.  My husband Pete, my son Ben, and baby girl Rebekah have been amazing.  They pamper me so much, I may not know how to act when this is all over!

Another week

Since my last post I have been feeling not so well.  I had chemo on Friday, by Sunday I was so nauseous I couldn't eat, but still ended up throwing up several times.  The nausea finally was just too bad and I had to take the nausea medicine given to me.  It does help but makes me very sleepy. I went on Monday for my booster shot and just like last time, came home and fell asleep.  On top of the nausea and booster shot, I still have the cough and have been very short of breath.  But all in all it has been an okay week!  :)
I did phone the doctor about the shortness of breath since I have to be concerned about my Pulmonary Fibrosis.  They are working me in tomorrow to check things out.
My hair had finally gotten pretty sparse, so I decided to go ahead and shave what was left.  My sweet husband said he wanted to shave his too.  He is so precious!  I have a wonderful husband and amazing kids.  What would I do without them?  I have no idea.
Think I will go lay down.  Below is a picture of our new hair dos!

Booster Shot

Yesterday I had my first booster shot.  The shot is Neulasta and it is a white blood cell booster.  It is suppose to help my body make more of its own natural white blood cells to help protect against chemotherapy-related infections.  My son Ben wanted to take me and my youngest Rebekah went along too.  We arrived at 10:30 a.m. and I finally received my shot at noon.  Mondays at the treatment center are BUSY!!!  Next time I will try to get there when they open and hopefully won't have to wait so long.

Ben took us to Schlotzsky's  for lunch, one of my favorites!  By the time we were home I was worn out and slept for 4 hours.  I'm not sure if it is the booster shot, the chemo, or everything in general, but I am exhausted today.
I'm very thankful today that my husband takes good care of us and I am able to stay home.
